We believe that changing the way we produce and distribute food is fundamental to solving the world’s most pressing social and ecological problems.
We supply UK grown, pesticide free veg, and salad. We grow our salad in Battersby, Great Broughton, and Kildale, as well as some of the veg for our boxes. Any veg we buy in is certified organic. We like to keep it as local as possible and for most of the year (usually June to March) we are lucky to be able to buy direct from Newfields Organic Farm at Fadmoor, on the southern side of the North York Moors. Especially important for leafy greens is the fact they harvest on the morning, we collect on the afternoon, and it's delivered to you on the evening! Any other veg we buy in is UK grown sourced from two specialist organic wholesalers, based in the North of England.
We pay our suppliers at least 50% of the retail value for any products we buy in, and when dealing with wholesalers, we check to make sure they pay fair prices to their growers.
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
